Attitude is Everything

Change seems to be my constant. I am not complaining; I am adjusting. As someone who appreciates a routine and practice, change is not a part of my natural skill set. However, as Leanne, one of my nearest and dearest friends from my Wofford days is getting ready to get married on Saturday, I have been thinking a good deal about the season of change that people my age seem to live in and then I remind myself...

Logging In & Catching Up

Wow. The lack of blog posts by yours truly lately has gotten out of control, my apologies. Not that you all don't have anything better to do than think to yourself, "Self, Mary has not blogged recently and I just cannot go another day without knowing what is going on!". No. I know this is not the case. Let's not kid ourselves. I did however originally start this blog so that our respective families who live all over the U S of A can keep up with us. So, here it goes:

Two weeks ago a group of friends threw a cookout for Sarah and Whitner. Their wedding will be here before we know it and we thought it would be fun for all of us to get together and honor this awesome couple. A few snapshots of the evening...

Ready for the festivities to begin!

Hi Whitner!

Blair & our bride

It was  such a fun party...however, driving to Columbia in the rain with a U-Haul the next day to get the rest of my furniture was not as fun. Blair has been traveling a good bit for his new job (Which he loves) and I am immersed in the job hunt, making our house looks like humans live in it, and continuing to explore Greenville. it has been really nice to be able to settle into a routine here with things that we do with our friends each week, places we like to eat and shop and getting to know our neighbors. Our house it situated between a preschool and an elementary school so during the week around 3:00 I am convinced our street is one of the busiest in the city.

Lots of fun things coming up and can't wait to share! Happy almost weekend and thanks for reading!

How Big Is Laura?

So big...and graduated! The time that my family spent together in Athens was great. It was so nice for us to be together again to celebrate Laura's accomplishments during her years at UGA (Like graduating Magna Cum Laude...I'm bragging again). Her English Department graduation was on Thursday afternoon in the Chapel on campus. It was an intimate ceremony and she was recognized for her study abroad work at Oxford. We walked around campus for a bit after and then ate a delicious dinner at NONA (New Orleans in Athens), one of Laura's favorite spots downtown.

That's you Laura!

You did it!

Friday we went to a late breakfast downtown, walked around a bit and then readied ourselves for more graduation celebrations at Laura's friend Taylor's house and then off we went to the stadium (With about 45,000 other people). The graduates filed onto the field from two different gates and I just picked one to stand by hoping I would be able to catch a glimpse of Laura and she walked between the hedges and sure enough we spotted each other! Governor Nathan Deal of Georgia was the keynote speaker and an awesome fireworks display marked the University of Georgia Class of 2012's entrance into the world! Congratulations Laura, we are all so proud of you and know that nothing but exciting & grand things await you in the future!

My Little Bulldog

Today I am heading to Athens, GA to watch my little sister graduate from college! This is such an exciting time for Laura and I am thrilled to be a part of it with the rest of our family. As I have grown older I have come to realize that being a sibling is an interesting experience because you get to observe so much; I remember the day that Laura was born, her dance recitals and gymnastics meets and her first day of school each year. Now we get to watch Laura leave what has been a very successful undergraduate career at the University of Georgia (Not to brag or anything) and begin the next exciting chapter in her life. So proud of her and cannot wait to spend a few days in the Classic City!

Don't Worry About A Ting

Blair and I spent our honeymoon in Jamaica at the same resort where Anna and Chett spent theirs. After an e-mail from them with some very helpful hints, Blair and I were definitely excited about the R&R waiting for us in Negril.

With plenty of Bob Marley listened to, Red Stripe and Absolut & Ting (the Jamaican version of Fresca) consumed, and lots of "Congratulations, mon!" thrown our way, we were in full vacation mode and happy to be there!

Last day

After a fresh rain

It was such a great trip and so nice to spend time together without the stress that moving and work brings. I think the only reason that I left willingly was because it was a little cloudy the morning that we were set to leave. If the sun was out it is highly possible that I would still be lounging on the beach in a chair next to Blair with not a worry in the world. Our friends Leanne and Andrew are getting married in 3 three weeks and will be going to Negril as well. Blair and I are currently in the process of devising a way to hide in their suitcases, Anna and Chett, want to join?!
