We Could Walk to Church

Blair and I found a home in Greenville!

Ok so we are not living in an airstream (talking about learning a lot about each other) but we are living precisely in the neighborhood that we wanted and within our budget. We are surrounded by some of our closest friends, near great shopping and restaurants, and churches and schools. Our backyard is adjacent to the back of the Presbyterian Church so when Blair was listing the pros and cons of our sweet little rental, one "pro" was "We could walk to church!"...which would be great if we were Presbyterian. Nevertheless, its very nice to know that come April we will not be living out of our cars, home sweet home here we come!

Thanks for reading & hope you all are having a great week!

Family Feel Good

In the midst of a very medicore week; I always have this to look forward to...

Considering myself to be a now semi-professional at writing thank you notes, I would like to send a big blog shout out to the writers of Modern Family. Sometimes I am very sad that it is a short 30 minutes long but then I would hate to ever take it for granted if it was longer and it always leaves me wanting more. Despite the fact the Blair has told me multiple times that I remind him of Claire Dunphy (ouch), I continue to watch, quote it at the office the next day, laugh to myself at my desk, and repeat the punchlines. So thank you Modern Family for reminding me on a weekly basis that my sense of humor  is still alive and well, regardless of all of the punches that the working world may throw at it.

Thanks for reading, hope you all have a great week!

Three

Oh hi 2012! Welcome year of the weddings! When Blair and I first set a date I found myself constantly saying "Oh, we have so much time!". Nope. We're here. We are getting married three months and we are so excited!

Band Together

I feel like so much of the wedding-planning process cane become about the girl and what she has hoped or dreamed that her wedding day would be like. Blair has been great about being involved and helping with lots of decisions that I am sure can be tiresome for him. It is for this reason that when I found a free weekend open on our calendars I suggested that we go to Knoxville to the jewelry store where Blair got my engagement ring for us to select our wedding bands. It was nice to be able to make the day about Blair, being in his hometown, eating at his favorite spots, and picking out the wedding band that he will soon wear!

Party, Party, Party

With a couple's shower on the horizon, my cousin Rebecca's wedding coming up in a few short weeks (So excited!!!), and then our respective bachelor/bachelorette parties, Blair and I are feeling quite festive. I am so excited about our shower coming up (Updates to come in "Two"); thrown by several awesome Wofford friends, it is an "Around the Clock" shower which will definitely not disappoint.

All of the events leading up the wedding have made us both so aware of how excited not only we are for this day and all that comes after, but also our friends and family. It is such a special time in our lives and we really do feel truly blessed to share it with those that are most important to us. April 21st, here we come!

25 Going On 80

So, just a typical night at the yellow house. Sam is asleep, Jaclyn is in class, Marsha is on her way back into town and I just made myself some tea and am watching Part III of Downton Abbey...

PBS Masterpiece Classic. Thank you very much.

No shame here. Not even a little. I knew I would like this series before the opening credits had finished in Part I. British drama? Check. Some history sprinkled in? Major check. If you haven't seen this yet I highly recommend it. All of the cousins were talking about it at Christmas and I had only seen bits and pieces and was feeling a little left out. Blair and I were in Knoxville this weekend and I saw Lisa's copy in their den practically jumped at the chance to borrow it. Looks like I should be able to return it at the end of the week at the rate I am watching... Who needs sleep!?

That's How Many Dalmatians

So I try not to deviate from my monthly wedding update post (Yes, I realize how absolutely crazy I sound) but this was too funny to not share.

Today I came home from work and was checking something on one of our registries and I saw that it posts a "Countdown" in the top right corner, 101 days!!! On my way to the gym I called Blair and our conversation went a little something like this:

Me: Hey Tooty guess what
Blair: What?
Me: We get married in 101 days!!!
Blair: [Without missing a beat] That's how many dalmatians there were!

His response took me by such surprise that I couldn't reply for second and then just decided on "Yes Blair, that's exactly how many dalmatians there were".

So yes, I am marrying someone who makes reference to a Disney Classic at every opportunity. I am not bothered by this in the slightest. Hope you all are having a great week, thanks for reading!

Back to Reality

Beginning with the weekend before Christmas to now, I feel like I have been traveling non-stop. Each time I pack up my bag and ready myself to leave for the weekend I wonder if it would just be easier to lay low and do a great deal of nothing. While this would definitely be "easy" it might not be as fulfilling as the trips themselves. Laura start spring semester of her senior year tomorrow and has been spending the past few days at our aunt's home in Hilton Head with our mom. So what did I do immediately after work on Friday? That's right, hopped in the car and headed for the island.

It was great to eat, nap, talk, and laugh and have absolutely no plans. None. When the largest sources of stress are where to eat and whether to walk along the marsh or the beach then you know you have had a perfectly relaxing weekend.

The view from Aunt Sal's back porch

Makes the idea of a Monday morning very unappealing! Hope you all had a great weekend, thanks for reading!

Ringing in 2012!

This past weekend Blair and I spent the weekend on Lake Keowee with several friends as we said bye-bye to 2011 and a big, happy hello to 2012!

I spent the early part of Friday at the grocery store and Party City (the NYE aisle really got the better of me) and then Sarah and I hit the road that afternoon. I originally had intended to surprise Cally & Dave and Sarah & Whitner with a surprise mini-engagement party, however since Sarah was my navigator she was also kind enough to help me set up:

Friday and Saturday were filled with lots of eating, laughing, playing games, and just relaxing. I am convinced that a more low-key New Years, like this past one is much more "me" than anything else. It was so nice to spend time with our friends and definitely made going back to work on Tuesday a little bit difficult.

I hope you all had a wonderful New Year, 2012 is sure to be a great one! Thanks for reading!
