Father's Day

Yesterday my dad made the trip from Atlanta up to Greenville to bring Blair and I some [much needed] furniture for our house. We ate a delicious lunch downtown, walked the river, and even watched some of the U.S. Open coverage (I was outnumbered).

Happy Father's Day Dad!

G's Louise

Guests. Gaffney. Garden & Gun.

Monday my sister Laura came up for a visit. Unfortunately, it was a rainy day in Greenville but we ventured downtown for lunch and a quick walk around the river anyway, saw a movie, and then watched The Bachelorette with friends. Since Blair travels for work a good deal I was grateful for the company and it was refreshing to be able to spend time together without worrying about rushing off the the next thing (i.e. my wedding, her college graduation).

Yesterday I traveled up to Gaffney as it was election day for our friend Anna's husband Steven who was running for county council. After many, many months of hard work it was so exciting to all of it pay off as Steven claimed the victory!

Way to go Steven!
And lastly, today a friend's grandfather was featured in Garden and Gun  online as one of their "Great Southern Men" (See #41).

Hope you all are having a great week & thanks for reading!

Sixty-Eight

Today marks the 68th anniversary of D-Day, the Allied invasion of Hitler's Atlantic wall at Normandy. George Kerchner, an Army Ranger honored for bravery in leading his troops over cliffs to seize German big guns passed away earlier this year at age 93.

“Second Lieutenant Kerchner and 15 members of his organization were surrounded and cut off from the main body for two and one half days,” the citation said. “He tenaciously and courageously held his position until relieved and was a constant inspiration to his troops.”

Those words; tenacity, courage, and inspiration can and should still be used in remembrance of this day.

Keeping Up With The Joneses

This past weekend our friends and I celebrated the wedding of our friends Leanne and Andrew. It was a beautiful, personal, and truly special wedding celebration and we are all so happy for the newlyweds!

Leanne was born and raised in Hartwell, GA so I was glad to return to the peach state for the weekend. Leanne's parents were nice enough to rent a lake house for the bridal party to stay in for the weekend and it was beyond fun to all be together the whole weekend. With lots of time spent on the dock and the porch, Leanne was totally calm, cool, and collected as we all chatted and laughed getting ready for her big day.

Attitude is Everything

Change seems to be my constant. I am not complaining; I am adjusting. As someone who appreciates a routine and practice, change is not a part of my natural skill set. However, as Leanne, one of my nearest and dearest friends from my Wofford days is getting ready to get married on Saturday, I have been thinking a good deal about the season of change that people my age seem to live in and then I remind myself...

Logging In & Catching Up

Wow. The lack of blog posts by yours truly lately has gotten out of control, my apologies. Not that you all don't have anything better to do than think to yourself, "Self, Mary has not blogged recently and I just cannot go another day without knowing what is going on!". No. I know this is not the case. Let's not kid ourselves. I did however originally start this blog so that our respective families who live all over the U S of A can keep up with us. So, here it goes:

Two weeks ago a group of friends threw a cookout for Sarah and Whitner. Their wedding will be here before we know it and we thought it would be fun for all of us to get together and honor this awesome couple. A few snapshots of the evening...

Hi Whitner!

Blair & our bride

It was  such a fun party...however, driving to Columbia in the rain with a U-Haul the next day to get the rest of my furniture was not as fun. Blair has been traveling a good bit for his new job (Which he loves) and I am immersed in the job hunt, making our house looks like humans live in it, and continuing to explore Greenville. it has been really nice to be able to settle into a routine here with things that we do with our friends each week, places we like to eat and shop and getting to know our neighbors. Our house it situated between a preschool and an elementary school so during the week around 3:00 I am convinced our street is one of the busiest in the city.

Lots of fun things coming up and can't wait to share! Happy almost weekend and thanks for reading!
